Step-by-Step Application Process

Follow these steps in order. Each step is critical - skip none.

Visit myAadhaar Portal

Go to https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in. Click "Login" with Aadhaar number + OTP on registered mobile. If mobile not registered, must visit enrolment center for any update.

Choose Update Type

After login, click "Update Aadhaar Online". Choose what to update: Address (most common), Name (with proof), Date of Birth (with proof), Gender, Language. Mobile number can ALSO be updated but biometric required.

Update Address Online

Click "Update Address". Enter new address as you want it on Aadhaar. Be exact with house number, street, area, pin code. Address must match the proof document you'll upload.

Upload Address Proof

Upload clear photo of address proof (Passport/Voter ID/etc.). PDF or JPG, max 2 MB. Document must show your name and full address. Self-attestation not needed for online.

Pay ₹50 Fee

Pay ₹50 via Net banking, UPI, Credit/Debit card. Get payment receipt. Without payment, request not submitted.

Submit and Get URN

Submit request. You receive Update Request Number (URN). Save this - critical for tracking. Format: 0001/00010/2026XXXX.

Track Status Online

Visit https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in → "Check Aadhaar Update Status" → Enter URN. Track progress. Status: Submitted → Under Review → Approved/Rejected.

For Biometric Update - Visit Center

For photo/fingerprint/iris updates, find nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Center at https://bhuvan.nrsc.gov.in/aadhaar/. Carry Aadhaar + ID/Address proof. Pay ₹100 fee. Wait time 30-60 mins.

Receive Updated Aadhaar

Online updates: 7-30 days. Once approved, download e-Aadhaar from uidai.gov.in. PVC card delivered in 15-20 days if requested. Old Aadhaar number remains same - only details updated.

Update in Other Documents

After Aadhaar update, update bank, PAN, Voter ID, school records, employer records etc. with new details. Aadhaar update doesn't auto-update these.

What Happens After Application?
